I bought Garth Brooks' first album for 'The Dance', included later
in this collection. Looking through the track list when I received
it, however, it struck me that I'd completely forgotten about a much
more important song: Cowboy Bill! I think Pat had missed this song
for the first few years he owned this album, too, because it wasn't
until just a few years ago that he introduced me to it.
"Hey Jay, come down here a minute." I followed him downstairs, where
the stereo resided. "I want you to listen to this song--it's really
good." Hey played Cowboy Bill then, and I listened.
It is good, I think, but the more remarkable point was my--perhaps
silly--feeling of pride at his asking me to come out of my way that
he might impart his own feelings about this piece of art. I can only
hope my gratitude was conveyed.
At any rate, I'll now ask the same of you: take a listen to the
song--it's really good. And I think the story might hold additional
meaning for us now given Bill's similarity to one Pat True.
